B.L. Harbert Lands Part of $2.5 Billion Navy Contract

B.L. Harbert International LLC, based in Birmingham, is one of 14 firms that the Navy has recently contracted with on an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, multiple-award construction contract for new construction, repair and renovation to commercial and institutional facilities at various government installations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. The combined contracts across the 14 firms amount to $2.5 billion.

B.L. Harbert specializes in design-build, construction management and general contracting. The company has more than 5,000 workers worldwide. It is the third-largest general contractor in Alabama, as ranked by value of contracts awarded during 2019, with close to $1 billion awarded that year.

The work to be performed on these contracts will be by design-build or design-bid-build of both commercial and institutional facilities, including airport buildings, office/administrative buildings, communication facilities, vehicle maintenance facilities, armories, parking garages, barracks facilities, prisons, fire stations, religious buildings, hotels, dining facilities, hospital/medical facilities, warehouses, schools and retail facilities.

The contract terms do not exceed 60 months, with an expected completion date of November 2025. All of the work will be performed at government installations within the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest area of operations.
