Baldwin Health
Formerly the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, the hospital changed its name in October 2024 to Baldwin Health. “The new name was done in part because the original ‘South Baldwin’ tied directly to that part of our county,” said Joe Hernandez, the hospital’s director of marketing. “The name Baldwin Health reflects our growth. We now have over 25 locations throughout Baldwin County.” Baldwin Health’s locations include Foley, Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Lillian, Loxley and Orange Beach.
In October 2024, the hospital added South Tower at its main location in Foley. The tower offers state-of-the art robotics, equipment and medical procedures. In addition, the Foley main campus has renovated its main lobby and other areas.
With more than 1,500 employees and a network of clinics across coastal Alabama, the hospital’s medical staff practices over 32 specialties. Key offerings include wound care and hyperbaric medicine, women’s and digital imaging, a 24-hour emergency department, an extended-hours urgent care/imaging center and a freestanding emergency department in Gulf Shores.
In February 2026, Baldwin Health opened its new Specialty Surgical Center.
In one of its many recognitions, in July 2024, Baldwin Health earned a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Infirmary Health is the largest not-for-profit, non-governmental health care system in Alabama. The health system is comprised of three acute-care hospitals, one long-term acute care hospital, two inpatient rehabilitation facilities, three ambulatory surgery centers, two freestanding emergency departments and more than 60 physician practice locations, along with other affiliated entities.

In addition to major capital investments in medical technology, Infirmary Health recently purchased new patient beds at each of its hospitals to enhance patient comfort and safety features and to provide easier mobility for caregivers.
Construction is underway on a $40 million patient tower at Thomas Hospital. The four-story tower will have ground-level parking, 25 medical-surgical beds to increase patient care capacity, a new and expanded cath lab, and one floor for future use, as well as a rooftop helicopter pad. The new tower is expected to open in the fall of 2026.
Thomas Hospital also operates a freestanding emergency department in the Malbis community with laboratory, pharmacy and imaging services as well as emergency care. A 95,000-square-foot medical office building is under construction at the Malbis site, with plans to offer an ambulatory surgery center with six operating rooms and a full range of radiology services.
Thomas Hospital has won an array of awards from Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report and Women’s Choice. North Baldwin Infirmary also has been honored by Leapfrog Group, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and others.
Comprehensive outpatient imaging services also are available at Thomas Medical Center, in Daphne.
