South Baldwin Regional Medical Center’s capacity will expand when a nearly 200,000-square-foot addition opens later this month. As part of the expansion, the hospital is being rebranded as Baldwin Health.

“We’ve operated as a health care system for some time now, and we’re excited to move forward with a name that is truly reflective of our services and the communities we serve,” said Baldwin Health CEO Margaret Roley.

The health system now has 25 locations throughout Baldwin County, including 10 new South Baldwin Medical Group locations that have opened over the last three years. The group employs more than 70 physicians. It will also rebrand to become Baldwin Health Medical Group.

“While our name is changing, our unwavering purpose of helping people get well and live healthier lives remains the same,” said Roley.

The hospital expansion, which was started in February 2023, includes a new five-story tower that features surgical facilities with a dedicated outpatient surgery center on the first floor, a women’s and children’s unit on the second floor, additional space for intensive care patients and more inpatient beds. The tower also provides more space for future growth.
