Birmingham-based Robins & Morton, a leading builder of health care facilities around the region, has broken ground on a $154 million facility in North Carolina.

Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center is a 161,000-square-foot facility that will bring acute care resources to suburban Charlotte.

“Charlotte has been a permanent home for Robins & Morton for over 15 years, and it’s really special when we have the opportunity to contribute to the community in this way,” says Division Manager Mike Bumgardner. “We’re proud to assist in bringing these new services to South Charlotte.”

The site will include a 38-acre hospital and medical office building that will offer, among other things, emergency care, inpatient care, women’s care and surgical services. Walking trails and space for community events are also planned for the facility scheduled to open in 2023.

“The residents of Ballantyne and surrounding communities deserve advanced care services in their own backyard. As Charlotte continues to grow, we will continue to grow with it,” says Saad Ethisham, president of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and the system’s greater Charlotte market.
