PS Logistics subsidiary acquires Scout Logistics

TA Services’ acquisition will bring it to more than 20 global locations.

TA Services acquires Canada-based Scout Logistics Corp., a specialist in over-the-road transportation of perishable freight.

TA Services Inc., a third-party logistics provider and subsidiary of Birmingham-based PS Logistics, has acquired Canada-based Scout Logistics Corp., a specialist in over-the-road transportation of perishable freight. The acquisition represents TA Services’ expansion into the cold-chain marketplace and rounds out its full-service logistics offering in North America. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“The like-minded combination of TA Services and Scout Logistics will bring a combined culture that focuses intensely on customer experience, carrier partnerships and employee well-being,” said Scott Schell, president and CEO of TA Services.

The acquisition will bring TA Services to $500 million in revenue, 650 employees and more than 20 global locations, spanning from Monterrey, Mexico, to Toronto, Canada. Scout Logistics is the latest acquisition for TA Services, who acquired Top Gun Freight in November 2020 and Sellers Logistics in February 2020.

“There is a large growth opportunity in Canada to expand value to shippers and carriers in general, and this partnership is an excellent opportunity to grow the Scout Logistics business with TA Services’ resources, systems, processes and access to capital,” said Lorne Swartz, founder of Scout Logistics. In 2020, Scout Logistics was recognized as a Platinum Club member of Deloitte Canada’s 50 Best Management Companies.

TA Services is a solutions provider for freight brokerage, managed transportation, warehousing and fulfillment and cross border logistics. It is a division of PS Logistics, founded in 2004, that provides a full-range of asset-based transportation, brokerage and supply chain services.
