PS Holdco LLC, parent of PS Logistics, has acquired all substantial transportation assets of Indiana-based Jason Jones Trucking Inc., a flatbed shipper concentrated on the eastern United States.
Through the purchase, they acquired 38 tractors, 89 trailers and 41 experienced drivers. JJT primarily hauled general freight, including drywall gypsum, lumber and brick — all types of freight that Birmingham-based PS Logistics also specializes in.
“JJT brings great freight synergies to both our companies as well as our customers,” said Scott Smith, CEO of PS Logistics. “It also further establishes our base in the upper Midwest and adds a new terminal to our growing national network.”
PS has been in an acquisition mode, acquiring most of the assets of Tuscaloosa-based Southeast Logistics Inc., Houndstooth Transportation Inc., C Cross Transport Inc. and Viking Transportation LLC in February, 2020, expanding the company’s driver team by 250 people.
In late May, 2020, they again expanded with the acquisition of Georgia-based CT Transportation, which brought another 250 drivers to the PS Logistics team and added terminals in Savannah; Jacksonville and Apollo Beach, Florida; Baltimore, Maryland; Monksville, North Carolina and Bridgeport, Alabama.
The JJT acquisition will be managed by Jason Jones and will report to P&S Transportation as a separate division under the leadership of Steve Reid, vice president of operations of P&S. JJT will continue to operate under the Jason Jones Trucking brand name.
Since 2007, they has successfully acquired 21 trucking and brokerage operations, making it one of the largest and fastest growing flatbed transportation and logistics providers in the United States.
