Multi-family Complex Rising in Gardendale

Dobbins is working on these homey multi-family spaces in Gardendale.

Birmingham’s Dobbins Group has broken ground on a 204-unit multi-family complex in Gardendale, valued at $30 million.

The one-, two- and three-bedroom options will average 977 square feet with rents ranging from $1,175 to $1,800 per month. Features include a gated entrance, salt-water pool, granite countertops and sidewalk access to nearby shops and restaurants.

“We see this as an excellent opportunity to develop class A multi-family housing in the thriving community of Gardendale, which has had no new apartments developed in over a decade,” says Thornton Ratliff, vice president of Dobbins Group, in a company announcement of the project.

“This planned community is walking distance to great shops and restaurants and is less than 12 minutes from Birmingham’s central business district and UAB,” Ratliff said, adding, “This development furthers our investment thesis…that while there is a great deal of urban product under construction, the suburbs have been by and large overlooked.”

Capstone Building Corp. is general contractor for the project, with architecture by Williams Blackstock Architects, civil engineering by MTTR and landscape architecture by Lorberbaum McNair and Associates. All are based in Birmingham.
