Harvesting Electricity to Recharge Mobile Devices Wirelessly

Harvesting the energy from radio waves is the science behind a new company — E-Electricity — that is using $23, 500 it won in this year’s Alabama Launchpad competition to start its new business.

Harvested electricity will allow users to recharge mobile devices wirelessly.

Based on technology developed by University of Alabama engineering professor Jaber Abu-Qahouq, the new company was launched by students Sloan McCrary and Will Sanders, along with Whitney Hough, a venture development associate of the University of Alabama Office of Technology Transfer.
