Wayne J. Griffin Electric Inc. is the electrical contractor on the historic renovation of the 12-story Birmingham Building Trades Tower. The building was built in 1967 and closed following a fire in 2015.
Griffin Electric is currently installing wiring for the 144,000-square-foot complex that will soon feature 242 studio and one-bedroom apartments. The ground level redevelopment will also include an on-site fitness area, app-based security for the building and parking space, a bike shop and game room for residents. The exterior will including an 11,500-square-foot gated terrace with outdoor cooking and seating areas.
Griffin Electric’s team is tasked with installing two new 2,000-amp services and one 1,200-amp service, as well as a 400 kW generator.
Other contractors involved on the project are Robins & Morton as the general contractor and Hendon & Huckstein Architects PC. Hyde Engineering Inc. is serving as the electrical engineer.
