Grandview Medical Center broke ground Friday on a 200,000-square-foot building on its campus off U.S. 280 in Birmingham.
The seven-story Grandview Physicians Plaza II is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2022.
Gov. Kay Ivey participated in Friday’s groundbreaking, saying Grandview “helps further solidify our position as a national leader in top-notch medical care.”
“I’m always proud to celebrate the health care contributions that Birmingham makes, not only to Alabama, but to the Southeast region and the entire country,” she said. “I was proud to join Grandview in breaking ground on this new facility.”
The new building comes after growth in admissions, surgeries and ER visits since Grandview opened in 2015.
“Our culture of patient experience and clinical excellence has helped Grandview Medical Center become a tertiary medical destination for Birmingham and the region and this significant investment will support further growth,” said Drew Mason, Grandview CEO.
Daniel Corporation, partnering with Seavest Healthcare Properties, is the owner and developer for Grandview Physicians Plaza II. Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor, with design and engineering by ESa Architecture and Schoel Engineering.
