UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton
Located in Clanton, the 30-bed full-service UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton hospital provides 24/7 emergency care along with expert care in over 20 specialties, including inpatient and outpatient surgical services, critical care, wellness services, laboratory testing, gastroenterology, pulmonology and a sleep disorders center. The facility’s diagnostic imaging services include X-ray, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, bone density testing and stress testing.
In February, UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton installed a new CT system that provides high-definition scans of entire organs in a single 0.23-second rotation, allowing faster, low-dose imaging for cardiac, brain, oncology, bone and pediatric care.
Last fall, UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton became one of six UAB St. Vincent’s locations to launch a pilot teletrauma program designed to address the lack of access to trauma care in rural and smaller communities. The program allows emergency doctors at these integrated locations to activate a two-way audiovisual communication between themselves, their patients and the trauma surgeons at UAB so that they can make more informed decisions about whether a transfer is necessary or the patient can be discharged.
Also last fall, UAB eMedicine, in partnership with UAB St. Vincent’s, launched a UAB Tele-Intensive Care Unit at the Chilton facility. It provides patients access to critical care physicians and nurses at the UAB Hospital.
In August 2025, the Chilton County Healthcare Authority held a ribbon cutting at the UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton hospital campus for a new wing that will host a Heart South cardiology office and an orthopedics office. Heart South will offer diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasounds, including echocardiograms and vascular ultrasounds. The orthopedics office will expand from three to six exam rooms and add a radiology room.
UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton received an “A” rating from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Group for patient safety and was listed among the top seven hospitals in Alabama for patient experience based on scores provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS).
