Birmingham-based Vulcan Materials Co. has acquired North Carolina aggregates firm Wake Stone Corp., providing some 60 years of hard rock reserves. – Vulcan Materials

Four Alabama businesses win DOD contracts

U.S. Army contracts were awarded to four Alabama firms this week. BL Harbert International won a $159 million contract for barracks construction at Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Huntsville’s Trideum Corp. was awarded two contracts, one for $98 million and one for $80 million for cyber security and other IT work; Raytheon in Huntsville won a $44 million contract for engineering and hardware for Radar Interfaced Units Adaptation Kits; and Bear Brothers in Montgomery won a $7.9 million construction contract. – U.S. Department of Defense
