UB Community Development closes $42.5 million in tax credits for Enviva pellet plant

UB Community Development LLC, a community development partner of United Bank, announced the closing of a $42.5 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation to support the building of the world’s largest wood pellet plant in Epes, Alabama. The new project for Enviva will be located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Sumter County. – Cision

 

Nashville incubator plans move into Alabama

A $1.25 million grant from the Trust Fund to the Nashville Business Incubation Center will be used, in part, for the incubator’s move into Birmingham and Huntsville. Specifically, the grant will provide tools, training, mentorships and curriculum support to NBIC’s Rise Up Academy, which works directly with women-owned businesses. – Cision

More than 40 employers expected at Huntsville job fair

More than 40 companies will take part in Huntsville’s ReLaunch Job Fair taking place Monday and Tuesday at Jemison High School. No registration is required, and participation for potential employees is free. Hours are 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. – Huntsville Madison County Chamber

 

Black-owned businesses showcase wares at Montgomery expo

Otey’s Tavern opening Homewood location

Otey’s Tavern, a staple in Mountain Brook’s Crestline Village, will open a second location in Homewood. The new restaurant, expected to open in spring 2023, will be on Oxmoor Road in Homewood’s Edgewood area. Otey’s has been in Crestline since 1989. – Over the Mountain Journal
