The University of Alabama System board of trustees finance committee has approved a plan to raise in-state tuition at the systems’ schools by 2.5%. In addition, out-of-state tuition would rise by 3% at UA and UAB, and by 4% at UAH. The full board of trustees will vote on the increase Friday. – AL.com

Iconic rocket will be replaced at welcome center

Lawmakers have secured $7 million in state funds to replace the Saturn 1B rocket, which stood at the welcome center on I-65 in Ardmore for four decades before being taken down last year. There’s no timeline as to when construction will start or finish. – Bama Buzz

Oxford principal named head of AHSAA

Oxford High School Principal Heath Harmon has been named executive director of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. He has been principal at Oxford since 2017 but began his education career as an assistant football coach. He later was head football coach at four schools.  – News 5

Huntsville company wins defense contract

Huntsville-based VetTech LLC has won a $348 million contract to provide services for the Missile Defense Agency. The work will be done at a number of locations, including Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. ­ – U.S. Department of Defense
