The Tennessee Valley Authority and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation have given a $1.1 million grant to Sheffield’s Rescue Me Project for its new STEM center. The grant will provide the new center with six Chromebooks, a tech hub to store computers, a 3D printer and more equipment. – News 19

Grant will teach unemployed Alabamians job skills

A $4.4 million federal grant will provide free job skills training to unemployed people in north, southeast and west Alabama. The U.S. Department of Labor grant is available through the Alabama Department of Commerce’s Alabama Works! Program or by visiting an Alabama Career Center. – AL.com

Dothan downtown revitalization project begins

The anticipated revitalization of Dothan’s city center is beginning this month with renovations to the Dothan Opera House. Birmingham-based Brasfield & Gorrie is general contractor for the project. – Bama Buzz

Burr & Forman investigating data security incident

Birmingham-based law firm Burr & Forman says a computer security breach in late 2023 involved data of one of its clients, Oceans Healthcare. The firm says personal information was contained in data involving Oceans Healthcare that an “unauthorized actor” gained access to. Burr & Forman and Oceans Healthcare are contacting those affected by the breach. – PR Newswire
