Birmingham/Bessemer chosen for $40 million FedEx Ground facility
FedEx Ground has announced plans for a $40 million, 300,000-square-foot facility on 46 acres along Lakeshore Parkway, partly in Birmingham and partly in Bessemer. Most of the site now belongs to U.S. Steel Corp. City and county officials welcomed today’s news of plans for the new project near Dollar General, Amazon and Carvana sites. — Birmingham Business Alliance

John Soules breaks ground on Valley plant
Construction is underway on a $151 million plant for John Soules Foods in Valley. The plant is slated to open in 2021 and to gradually build to 500 employees. — Food Business News 

Stein Mart files chapter 11 bankruptcy
Retailer Stein Mart has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, saying it may close all of its 281 stores. The company blames a challenging retail environment coupled with stress from the pandemic. Stein Mart has locations in Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Montgomery, Auburn and Mobile. — Alabama News Center 

Chlorine leak hospitalizes two at Olin plant
A small chlorine leak at the Olin chemical plant in McIntosh Tuesday sent two workers to the hospital and caused a shelter-in-place alert for the community. State and federal authorities will be investigating the incident. — Fox 10 TV
