Filterbuy expanding in Pennsylvania
Talladega-based Filterbuy, which manufactures air filters, is taking over part of an old Alcoa plant in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh.  Filterbuy will lease 137,000 square feet of space and create at least 120 new jobs over three years. It’s the company’s first operation in the northeastern U.S. – WPXI 11 

NASA awards six Alabama small businesses
NASA has announced investment of more than $45 million in 365 U.S. small business proposals, including six in Alabama, as part of the agency’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer program. The six winning Alabama proposals came from four businesses in Huntsville. – NASA

Dollar General bringing new concept to Alabama
Dollar General will open a DGX convenience store in downtown Huntsville, the first Alabama location for one of the company’s stores with a smaller footprint and a limited array of products. The DGX scores offer grab-and-go sandwiches and salads, and some sell fresh fruit, veggies and coffee. The Huntsville store is scheduled to open in the spring.  – AL.com

Pence to speak at Faulkner dinner
Former Vice President Mike Pence will be Faulkner University’s annual benefit dinner speaker this year. Proceeds from the Oct. 7 dinner support the university and student scholarships.  – Montgomery Advertiser

Alabama cities to resume walking tours
The Alabama Tourism Department says that walking tours in about two dozen cities and towns around Alabama will resume in April. The springtime walking tours had been canceled because of the pandemic, but they will resume in locations such as Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Athens, Monroeville and Fairhope. – Alabama News Network
