Top Doc Invests in Resort Medicine

Renowned Alabama orthopedist Jim Andrews, who developed the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, has now joined forces with developer Jack Diamond and financial backer Jim Justice to create a wellness facility at The Greenbrier, one of the premier resorts in the East.

Alongside Andrews and the project leaders at the announcement of The Greenbrier Medical Institute was another famous Alabamian, football standout Bo Jackson, who credits Andrews with the orthopedic care that allowed him to have such a successful career.

Justice announced the $250 million project to include sports medicine, rehabilitation, cosmetic surgery and “lifestyle enhancement academy” at the resort that’s been known for a century for its restorative sulphur baths and opportunities for relaxation and, more recently, for executive health care.

Backers of the new project also plan a think tank to promote research on prevention and wellness.
