Pharmavite LLC celebrated the grand opening of a new plant in the Northeast Opelika Industrial Park, where it already has 245 employees at work making Nature Made soft-gel and tablet vitamins, minerals and supplement products.
The company broke ground for the plant in 2011 and opened its doors earlier this year, but celebrated with company officials and state and local leaders in early June.
The company invested $73 million in the plant and expects to invest another $16 million and to add another 15 employees before the end of the year.
Pharmavite COO Mark Walsh told those at the opening that this is the first dietary supplement firm in Alabama, and represents a new industry for the state.
