Firestone Building Products announced plans to double the size of its Tuscumbia plant, where it makes thermoplastic polyolefin roofing membranes.

Fontaine Trailer Co., of Jasper, announced plans for a $5 million expansion and the creation of two new companies, Fontaine Intermodal and Fontaine Renew.

Mercedes-Benz announced that it will begin assembling M-Class and GL-Class models in India, Thailand and Indonesia from kits made at the company’s plant in Vance.

Briggs & Stratton announced that it will limit its Auburn plant to two-cylinder engines, while other models will be made in China.

Reed Minerals, based in Jasper, has been acquired by a subsidiary of North American Coal Corp., based in Dallas, for $62.5 million.
