Scholarship endowment and bucket truck donated to Calhoun

Stan and Nancy McDonald worked with Steve Pirkle and Decatur Utilities to obtain the bucket truck for Calhoun’s Lineworker Program.

Calhoun Community College Foundation has received a $25,000 scholarship endowment in honor of the late Walter McGlocklin, a retired lineman of Athens Utilities, who spent 30 years on the job.

The scholarship, which is endowed over a five-year period, was given by Stan and Nancy McDonald, McGlocklin’s son-in-law and daughter. Stan McDonald is a Calhoun Foundation board member.

In addition, the couple obtained a bucket truck for Calhoun’s Lineworker Program, from Decatur Utilities. The bucket truck will expand the training opportunities for students enrolled in Calhoun’s Pre-Apprentice Lineworker Program.
