Samford opens commercial real estate lab

Lab, new curriculum focus on real estate industry

Birmingham’s Samford University has opened the Fairway Commercial Real Estate Lab in its Brock School of Business.

Paired with new curriculum, it’s part of an initiative to prepare students for a career in the real estate industry.

The new lab will provide workspace for students, data analytics software and more for the business school’s new real estate concentration. The curriculum includes real estate law, professional selling and real estate finance and investment.

“The hands-on lab will help set our students apart as they seek commercial or residential real estate internships and full-time employment in Birmingham and beyond,” said Chad Carson, dean of the Brock School of Business. “We are very grateful to Fairway for investing in this important initiative.”

Plans also include the endowment of the Lucille Ryals Thompson Professorship and the establishment of a real estate professional advisory board.
