Renovated Birmingham landmark nears reopening

The former AT&T Center, one of downtown Birmingham’s tallest buildings, will open this summer as The 600, featuring luxury apartments. The building, at 600 19th St. North, will include amenities such as a gym and co-working space, as well as retail and restaurants. – Bham Now

 

Medical Properties Trust subject of class action suit

A federal class action lawsuit alleges that Birmingham-based Medical Properties Trust mislead investors when it invested in four Pennsylvania hospitals in 2019. The lawsuit says Medical Properties Trust mislead investors by concealing that the Pennsylvania hospitals were “distressed.”  – AL.com

Sanders acquires Indiana retail property

Sanders Capital Partners, based in Birmingham, has completed a $3 million purchase of the Windridge Shops in Indianapolis, Indiana. Purchase of the 11,600-square-foot property expands the Midwest presence of Sanders, a real estate acquisition and development firm. – Sanders Capital Partners

 

VP for research, economic development leaving UA

Russell J. Mumper, the University of Alabama’s vice president for research and economic development, is leaving for a similar job at Indiana University. A prominent researcher in pharmaceutical sciences and biomedical engineering, Mumper has been VP at UA since 2019. – The Tuscaloosa News
