Two Alabama companies – Birmingham-based Regions Bank and Vulcan Materials – are once again on the Fortune 500 list of corporations ranked by revenue.
Regions ranked 433rd with revenues of about $9.4 billion, down from 428th last year, while Vulcan, with revenues of about $7.4 billion, fell 28 spots to rank 500th. Birmingham-based Encompass Health ranked 626th, up 34 places from last year.
Walmart was No. 1 on the list for the 13th straight year, followed by Amazon, UnitedHealth Group, Apple and CBS Health. The rest of the top 10 were Berkshire Hathaway, Alphabet, Exxon Mobil, McKesson and Cencora.
“We are focused at Fortune on being the authority on the companies that make up the Fortune 500, how the list itself is vital to navigating a global economy and on how the stories that come from it help explain the times we are living in,” said Anastasia Nyrkovskaya, Fortune CEO. “The Fortune 500 is a literal roadmap to the rise and fall of markets, a reliable playbook of the world’s most important regions, services, and products, and an indispensable roster of those companies’ dynamic leaders. It’s core to our mission at Fortune and we are laser-focused on tracking it.”
The list is in the magazine’s June/July issue.
