The Birmingham skyline is once again lit up by the Regions Bank headquarters decorated for the holidays.
The red, green and white lights on the 30-story tower have been part of Birmingham’s holiday season for more than four decades.
“The lighting of the Regions Center is a tradition going back more than 40 years, and Regions Bank is proud to keep the tradition alive, especially during a year in which so much has changed,” said Joe Holcombe, senior facilities project manager in Region’s corporate real estate division, in a prepared statement. “In recent weeks, crews have been installing and testing lights, working hard to get Birmingham’s tallest holiday display ready for the season. As the lights come on … we wish everyone a happy holiday season and a brighter new year to come.”
Using gel sleeves over lights on the windows, the Regions lights create images of a Christmas tree, wreath and stocking.
The building’s lights have also celebrated the Regions Tradition golf tournament and the 1996 Summer Olympics, in addition to a patriotic display during the Gulf War.
