A new private school in Mobile is offering a two-week course to prepare students for nursing assistant certification exams.

Pathway Clinical Institute prepares its students to get certified and work in long-term care facilities, hospitals and other medical facilities.

The program is available to anyone 18 or older with a high-school diploma or GED. Tuition and fees, including the cost of certification tests, are less than $800. The program is licensed by the Alabama Community College System.

Of the 20 students who have completed the two-week program, 15 have become certified nursing assistants.

“We understand the importance of having a plan and a pathway for lifelong success,” said Clarence Ball, who founded Pathway Clinical Institute. “Giving individuals an accessible way to enter the medical field is also critically important for the health care industry. It’s a win-win for our region and state.”
