Phelps Dunbar and Cabaniss Johnston Merge

Phelps Dunbar LLP has announced that Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O’Neal LLP will become part of the firm on March 1.

Once the merger is complete, Phelps Dunbar will have offices in 13 cities throughout the Gulf South and in London.

Cabaniss Johnston was founded in 1887 and has offices in Mobile and Birmingham. On Business Alabama’s Largest Law Firms ranking, Cabaniss Johnston was ranked no. 25 last year with 28 attorneys and a total of 54 employees in Alabama.

Phelps Dunbar, in all of its offices, has 300 attorneys, serving six core practice groups — business, health care, insurance, labor and employment, litigation and admiralty. In addition to Alabama, it currently has practices in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina and London.
