Toyota said Monday it will build a $1.3 billion battery plant, employing 1,750 people, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Alabama was said to be in the running for the plant, which will produce battery packs for electric vehicles. – The New York Times

 

UA cubesat will launch in January

A cubesat – a miniature satellite used for space research – from the University of Alabama will be among those onboard Astra’s Rocket 3.3 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in January. The University of California Berkeley, New Mexico State University and NASA’s Johnson Space Center will also have cubesats on the flight. – Space News

Miles College extends president’s contract

The contract for Bobbie Knight, the former Alabama Power executive who is now president of Miles College, has been extended through May 2024. Knight was named interim president in August 2019 before being named president in March 2020. – The Birmingham Times

 

C Spire bringing ultra-fast Gigabit internet to Homewood

Construction has begun on infrastructure that will bring ultra-fast Gigabit internet to Homewood. C Spire says service will be available to some customers in the area in 2022.  – Cision
