A regional office of the National Labor Relations Board has ordered a new union election at the Amazon warehouse in Bessemer. Amazon won a decisive victory against the union in the original vote, but the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union filed an objection to the vote soon after. – The New York Times

 

Canadian company contracted for K-12 COVID-19 testing in Alabama

Bloom Health, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has been awarded the contract to test K-12 students, faculty and staff in Alabama schools. The testing will be free and voluntary for those who are asymptomatic. – Proactive Investors

Athens Christian school plans $4.9 million expansion

Lindsay Lane Christian Academy in Athens is planning a 34,000-square-foot, $4.9 million expansion that will include a gym, 10 classrooms, four offices, storm shelter and more. The school opened in 2009 and has 636 students in pre-K through 12th grade. The school bought 31 acres for the expansion, which is expected to be complete in 2024. – American School & University

 

USA Health, Monroe County enter agreement

USA Health and Monroe County have entered into a management services agreement for the hospital in Monroeville. Elizabeth Kirby, assistant administrator at USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, will serve as administrator and CEO for Monroe County Hospital. – Fox 10
