Medical West Hospital Authority, an affiliate of UAB Health System, received a loan of more than $300 million for construction in McCalla. The hospital, relocating from its Bessemer location, received a loan as part of $1 billion in funding announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. – AL.com

 

UNA forges agreement with Cherokee Nation

The University of North Alabama and the Oklahoma-based Cherokee Nation have signed an agreement allowing Cherokee Nation citizens and employees to enroll in graduate or undergraduate classes at the Florence university. The agreement applies to 400,000 tribal citizens and 4,300 tribal government employees. – News 19

Dothan tourism director pleads guilty to bank fraud

Aaron McCreight, tourism director in Dothan, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a felony bank fraud count stemming from a failed music festival in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2018. At the time, McCreight was president and CEO of GO Cedar Rapids. He faces up to 30 years in federal prison. – The Gazette
