Lansing Companies, one of the largest land development companies in the U.S., has pledged $1 million toward the North Alabama Zoo planned for Limestone County.

Lansing Companies, one of the largest land development companies in the U.S., has pledged $1 million toward the North Alabama Zoo planned for Limestone County. The North Alabama Zoological Society plans the zoo on 279 acres of land. Fundraising is underway to purchase the land for $6.5 million.  – News 19

 

Alabama Power will pay fine in environmental case

Alabama Power will pay $75,000 in fines and stop burning coal at a plant north of Mobile in an agreement with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. Under the agreement, the Barry Steam Electric Generating Plant, cited for releasing too much hydrochloric acid, will quit burning coal. – ABC 33/40

Progress Bank cuts ribbon in Tuscaloosa

Huntsville-based Progress Bank has cut the ribbon on a new operation in Tuscaloosa. Currently in an interim location at the Tuscaloosa Galleria, the bank will be located permanently on 12th Street in Tuscaloosa in a building designed by Eric Requist at Ellis Architects. – Progress Bank
