Huntsville’s First Stop opens new facility

The nonprofit supports the homeless in North Alabama

The new facility expands the work of Huntsville’s First Stop.

First Stop, an advocate and resource for the homeless community in Huntsville, today is celebrating the grand opening of its new facility.

“We are excited to unveil our new facility, which symbolizes our unwavering dedication to serving the homeless community with compassion and dignity,” said Jennifer Geist, executive director of First Stop. “This expansion allows us to further our mission and provide comprehensive resources to those seeking self-sufficiency and independent, sustainable living.”

The 8,434-square-foot facility on Stokes Street includes a case-management suite, enrichment classroom, computer lab, dining room and more. The facility will provide mental health services by Wellstone and a medical clinic in partnership with Thrive Alabama.

“We are grateful for the unwavering support of our city leaders, community partners, donors and volunteers whose generosity has made this expansion possible,” Geist said. “Together, we are transforming lives and building a stronger, more inclusive community for all.”
