Huntsville company lands $415 million contract

ITSC Secure Solutions, based in Huntsville, was awarded a U.S. Air Force contract for up to $415 million. The contract is for technical, advisory and resource services. The company is based in Birmingham, but the work will be performed in Washington, D.C.; Fairfax, Virginia; and Tampa, Florida.  – U.S. Department of Defense

Aerojet Rocketdyne engine powers weapon test flight

A scramjet engine built by Huntsville’s Aerojet Rocketdyne has powered a second successful flight test of the Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept for the U.S. Air Force. The test flight was launched from a B-52 and traveled more than 300 nautical miles at altitudes exceeding 60,000 feet. – Aerojet Rocketdyne

Orion Amphitheater group acquires Birmingham venue

London-based TVG hospitality, the group behind Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater, has acquired Saturn, the music venue in Birmingham. Saturn is a 500-seat venue founded in 2015. – Bham Now

 

5 Alabama churches receive historic preservation grants

Thirty-five historic Black churches around the United States received grants from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, including five in Alabama. The grant recipients in Alabama are 16th Street Baptist Church and Old Sardis Baptist Church, both in Birmingham; Old Ship African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Montgomery; First Missionary Baptist Church, Hayneville; and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Notasulga. – Bama Buzz
