The Atlantic Group LLC, headquartered in Huntsville, has been awarded a $16 million firm-fixed-price contract for photogrammetric and LiDAR surveying and mapping by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers out of St. Louis, Missouri.

The company was one of 38 vying for the contract, which is expected to be complete by August 19, 2025. The contract will be paid and the locations determined with each order.

Founded in 2005, The Atlantic Group is a technology-driven remote sensing, surveying and consulting business, with additional locations in Knoxville, Tennessee and Denver, Colorado. The company uses LiDAR, photogrammetry and GIS to develop accurate datasets for their clients.

LiDAR is a method for measuring distances by illuminating a target with laser light and measuring the reflection with a sensor. In the field of LiDAR, the company has purchased three Galaxy Prime sensoerrs that provide twice the laser power of previous models, allowing for higher density collection. LiDAR is often used for developing datasets such as bare earth elevation models, forest canopy models, engineering design, airfield solutions, vegetation mapping and utility management.
