Humminbird announces expansion in Eufaula

Marine electronics maker plans to add 77 workers

Humminbird makes electronics to help fishermen find their target.

Marine electronics maker Humminbird has announced plans for a major expansion in Eufaula. The firm, a division of Johnson Outdoors, plans to add 77 workers by this fall. And it’s offering a signing bonus to the newcomers.

Moreover, the company plans a 27,400-square-foot addition, increasing production space by 25%, and adding equipment. The firm completed a 17,000-square-foot warehouse expansion earlier this year.

“Humminbird has grown significantly over the last six years and we expect it to continue to grow,” said Craig Packard, general manager. “To increase our capacity to meet future demand, we are investing in growing our workforce and continuing to expand our facilities.”

About half the new hires will be direct assembly workers and the rest will be technicians and supervisors or assigned to shipping, HR, IT or technical support, the company says.

In addition to its signature fish finders, Humminbird makes multifunction displays, autopilots, ice flashers and cartography products.
