Salata, a salad bar restaurant concept based in Houston, Texas, is planning an expansion into Alabama.

Huntsville, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa are targeted for openings in 2023, with Montgomery and Mobile following those, says Julie Davis, the vice president of franchise development for Salata.

“Our expansion into Alabama is a natural extension of our strategic growth pattern along the Sun Belt,” she says. “As Salata continues to grow, we’re able to capitalize on already established brand awareness along the I-10 corridor, allowing for quick adoption of the brand in the local market.”

Salata was started in Houston by two brothers-in-law as a meat-and-three concept before becoming a create-your-own salad bar.

“Alabama’s population also fits well within our core demographic, especially in cities like Huntsville and Birmingham where we have identified rapid growth and a significant trend in the desire for more healthy options,” Davis says. “We see an opportunity to fill that role within the Alabama market with Salata’s fresh, customizable salads and wraps.”

Right now, the company is searching for franchisees, “who have established themselves as skilled restaurant operators and are capable of embodying the mission of Salata,” she adds.
