Early laboratory work at the Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, sometime before 1960. Founded in 1941, Southern Research now employs 250 scientists and professional staff. The company has developed seven FDA-approved cancer drugs and has conducted more than $30 million in COVID-19 research, including collaborating on a new vaccine currently in clinical trials.
