The Prattville Mercantile Company, shown here in 1910, was built by Daniel Pratt in 1855 as a company store and commissary. The building survived a devastating 1900 fire that destroyed much of downtown Prattville. The first bank in the area was in the back of the building, located at the corner of West Main and Court streets. In the early 1980s, it was Steve’s Disco, and later it became the store Marie’s on Main. In 2017, the building was renovated and became the Indulgence Spa and Salon. The spa is still in the building today. Photo courtesy of Alabama Department of Archives & History.
