Harbert Realty Services has purchased the former Cross Creek Golf Course in Tallahassee, Florida, with plans to redevelop it. The purchase of the land, near an under-construction Amazon robotics fulfillment center, was for $6.3 million.  – Tallahassee Democrat

 

Birmingham Macy’s is closing

Macy’s at Brookwood Village will be closing its doors after 48 years at the location. The spot, one of Brookwood’s main anchors at the time, was originally occupied by Rich’s Department Store, which became Macy’s in 2005. The Riverchase Galleria Macy’s will remain open. – Bham Now

Former Books-A-Million COO running for governor

Lew Burdette, who spent 13 years at Books-A-Million, some of those as chief operating officer, announced his run for governor of Alabama Tuesday. Burdette now is president of King’s Home, the nonprofit that operates 21 residential group homes. — Alabama Political Reporter

HCP Pumps, which moved into Foley Industrial Park eight years ago, has purchased two more acres from the city for $100,000 to expand its operations. Those acres are adjacent to the two acres the company already owned.  – OBA

 

Decatur chemical plant fined after two deaths

Daikin America Inc., based in Decatur, has been fined $232,000 after an OSHA investigation found workers were exposed to toxins that resulted in two deaths. Three chemical operators were exposed to the chemicals last July, and two of them died. – AL.com
