Grow with Google’s Digital Coaches program, which offers free digital skills workshops to help Black and LatinX small businesses succeed, will launch in Birmingham at the end of this month.
Birmingham is one of eight new cities launching the Digital Coaches program by the end of the year, bringing the total number of cities participating to 20.
“Birmingham has a vibrant and growing Black and LatinX small business community,” said Lucy Pinto, Google’s Digital Coach program manager. “The Digital Coaches program will provide business owners in these communities with ongoing workshops and hands-on coaching sessions focused on the techniques and digital tools to reach new customers, thrive online and grow.”
Tye Miles, founder and CEO of Birmingham’s Tye Miles International, will be the Grow with Google digital coach for Birmingham.
“Having grown up knowing I wanted far beyond the circumstances around me, the skills that this program will provide will enhance others’ business acumen so that they, too, can experience the success they are working so hard to achieve,” she said.
The first free workshop, “Get Your Local Business on Google Search and Maps,” will be held via video conference on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. Four other workshops are scheduled for November, and registration is required.
