Governor gives innovation grants to six groups

Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded $4.85 million to five universities and a research institution to encourage research into innovations. The grants went to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, University of North Alabama, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn University and the University of Alabama. – Alabama Political Reporter

 

Judge orders end to picketing activity at Warrior Met

A Tuscaloosa County circuit judge entered a restraining order against picket line activity by the United Mine Workers of America at Warrior Met Coal. The order is in place through Nov. 5 but could be extended. Workers are eight months into a strike at the mine. – AL.com

Alabama receives grant to address farmers’ mental health needs

A $500,000 grant awarded to the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries will help complete a Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network project. The grant is part of a $25 million investment nationwide by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. – Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries
