Feeding a Vital Source of the Logistics Pipeline

Navistar Huntsville of Alabama, International Truck and Southland Transportation Group teamed up to show their appreciation to truck drivers last week with a free meal.

The companies served 150 lunches to professional drivers of all makes and models of large vehicles — from semi-trailers to dump trucks to school bus drivers. The lunches were given out at Southland Transportation’s Madison, Alabama location on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to lunch, drivers also received a small care package that included some essentials like hand sanitizer.

Navistar makes International brand diesel engines at its facility in Huntsville. Earlier this year, the company announced an expansion of the factory, a capital investment of $125 million that will add 145 jobs to the plant. The expansion, which is expected to be complete in 2023, will add 110,000 square feet of manufacturing space, allowing the company to make the next generation big-bore powertrains with partner TRATON.

Southland Transportation Group is an authorized International dealer. It offers sales in commercial new and used trucks, trailers, buses, as well as parts and services. The company, which began in 1986, has six locations in Alabama, in Birmingham, Homewood, Huntsville/Madison, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and the trailer dealership in Birmingham. In addition to International vehicles, it offers vehicles from IC Bus, Wabash, Transcraft and Benson.
