Miller Girvin has been hired as executive vice president of innovation and entrepreneurship at the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama.
Girvin previously served as chief executive officer of the Alabama Capital Network, where, along with ACN’s five founders, she supported Alabama’s startup ecosystem. In that role she led ACN’s efforts to connect startup companies with capital networks, connect startups with mentors and help provide access to prospective customers.
“My work at ACN has provided me with a unique perspective into our innovation ecosystem,” Girvin said. “After years of working with entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers, I have some very clear and targeted ideas on how we can continue to accelerate our entrepreneurial growth. I am excited to join EDPA to support and expand the already successful programs driving innovation in Alabama.”
Earlier this year, Girvin was selected by Gov. Kay Ivey as one of 15 members of the Alabama Innovation Commission, the first statewide initiative focused on strategies to develop and maximize the potential of the state’s growing innovation economy.
“Miller joining EDPA will enable us to continue to elevate our work to support innovators and entrepreneurs throughout the state as we further position Alabama as an innovation hub,” said EDPA President Greg Barker. “Her experience connecting early-stage entrepreneurs and investors for our state will be a vital asset to EDPA and the entire economic development community in Alabama.”
Girvin will begin her new role in January.
