EDPA acquires Birmingham Bound

Aim is to take the tech initiative statewide

The Economic Development Partnership of Alabama has acquired Birmingham Bound, an initiative that has attracted more than 20 tech companies to the Birmingham area since its founding in 2018.

The program, which was created by Birmingham-based firm Shipt, will serve as a cornerstone for statewide lead generation strategy for tech companies.

“Our plan is to make Birmingham Bound a statewide initiative,” said Miller Girvin, president of the EDPA. “This development allows us to use proven methods we’ve refined with our business intelligence team at AL Intel to target specific companies, pursue high-potential leads and highlight Alabama’s unique value proposition for early-stage businesses.”

The EDPA outlined three key objectives for the new strategy: targeting specific companies, building on existing partnerships across the state; and strengthening Alabama’s reputation as a hub for innovation.

The EDPA will hire a director of technology company business attraction to lead the new initiative.
