Mobile-based Airbus celebrated the delivery of its 100th A320 jet to Delta Airlines. Sen. Katie Britt and Airbus Americas Chairman and CEO Jeff Knittel were among those in Mobile for the event. Delta flies more than 400 aircraft built by Airbus, and more than a quarter of them were made in Mobile. – AL.com

Huntsville’s American Carbonyl makes acquisition

American Carbonyl, which manufactures Carbonyl Iron Micropowders and Iron Pentacarbonyl at Huntsville’s Redstone Arsenal, has acquired Ashland Micropowder and Iron Pentacarbonyl assets. Those materials, used in chemical, defense and metals manufacturing, are only produced by American Carbonyl in the western hemisphere, the company says. – Cision

University of Mobile names residence hall after president emeritus

University of Mobile named its new residence hall Mark Foley Hall after President Emeritus Mark Foley. Foley also delivered the commencement address to the UM Class of 2023. – University of Mobile

 

UNA awarding first-ever doctorate degree

University of North Alabama student Kyle Reason will be the first UNA student to be awarded a doctorate degree. The doctorate will come in clinical exercise physiology. – News 19
