Chicken & Egg Fest Peaks, Folds

In the northern Alabama hamlet of Moulton, chicken and egg met their demise together. The popular Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival, celebrated the past nine years in Moulton, has hosted its final visitor.

What started as a low-budget, low-key event quickly became a popular tourist draw, with almost 20, 000 people at the 2013 festival, with recognition from numerous tourism agencies that identified it as a “must-see music festival” and a top food event.

The wide variety of performing artists who appeared also offered music and arts events for the school children in Lawrence County.

As its last act, the festival presented a $20, 000 check to the Lawrence County Arts Council to help continue making arts available in the local schools.
