Atlanta-area drone company expands into Huntsville
Skyfire Consulting, a drone designer and manufacturer based in Marietta, Georgia, has opened an office in Huntsville. The company cited proximity to Redstone Arsenal, the new U.S. Space Command headquarters and the University of Alabama in Huntsville as a reason for its expansion. – Huntsville Business Journal

New rail ferries will service Port of Mobile
CG Railway will begin running two new rail ferries between Mobile and Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. The new ferries will each be able to carry 135 railcars, up from 115 on existing ferries. The capacity and speed could boost annual carload capacity by 40%. – Railway Age

Wallace Community College launches first pre-apprenticeship program
The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship and Wallace Community College in Dothan will launch the state’s first certified pre-apprenticeship program in June. Pre-apprenticeship programs prepare people to enter registered apprenticeship programs and then a career. Wallace’s Basic Maintenance Technician program has been certified as a pre-apprenticeship program. Enrollment begins April 4.  – Wallace Community College
