Caddell
Caddell Construction Co., based in Montgomery, recently has been awarded three major projects near and far.
Building on its history of major U.S. facilities overseas, Caddell is at work on a new annex office building at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Two floors of the building will house consular and visa services for Russian citizens wishing to visit the U.S., while the upper floors will provide office space for U.S. agencies with work in Russia, such as NASA, the Centers for Disease Control and the Foreign Commercial Service. The building is slated to open in 2015.
In addition, the company, which is celebrating its 30th year in business this year, has been awarded contracts for two military projects — an unmanned aerial vehicle complex at Fort Stewart, Ga., a project valued at $20 million, and a basic trainee complex barracks at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., a project valued at $33 million.
Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects, Hargrove Engineers + Constructors
Fairhope’s Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects has been selected as the lead design firm for a set of projects at the new Airbus facility in Mobile, with Mobile’s Hargrove Engineers + Constructors and Oklahoma-based Frankfort Short Bruza also on the design team.
This design package includes the transshipment hangar, the main entry gate building and renovation of a warehouse and receiving facility.
Brasfield & Gorrie
Birmingham’s Brasfield & Gorrie has completed work on a $3.5 million South Texas Border Intelligence Center in Laredo. The structure houses agencies of both U.S. and Mexican governments.
Sherlock, Smith & Adams
Architectural firm Sherlock, Smith & Adams, with offices in Montgomery and Birmingham, has completed design for the new Bryce Hospital psychiatric facility in Tuscaloosa. The new hospital is designed to house 268 patients in “hope, ” “long-term” and “forensic” settings, with dining rooms, staff areas and a “recovery center” with activities.
Robins & Morton
A new $72 million recreation and wellness center opened this fall on the Auburn University campus. Features include the longest indoor running track in the nation, a rock climbing wall and a 45-person hot tub made in the shape of a tiger’s paw.
Other Alabama firms involved in design and construction include Associated Mechanical Contractors Inc., FC Fire Protection Systems, Consolidated Electric, CS Beatty, Rabren General Contractors Inc., Masonry Arts, Cives Steel and Vision Landscape.
