Buffalo Rock Plans $75 million Expansion in Birmingham

Buffalo Rock in Birmingham is a major provider of food and beverages, including Pepsi products.

Buffalo Rock Co., a food and beverage provider located in Birmingham for more than 100 years, plans a $75 million expansion.

The expansion includes more than 1 million square feet of new warehouse and office space in Birmingham, as well as renovations, new technologies and new jobs.

“This is the largest infrastructure investment in our company’s history, and we are proud to make it in Birmingham,” said Jimmy Lee, chairman of the board and CEO of Buffalo Rock. “We’ve been in business in Birmingham since 1901, and (this) announcement is a reflection of our employee-partners and for local elected officials whose support sustains our continued success.”

As part of the expansion, Buffalo Rock bought a warehouse on Industrial Drive and an office building on Lakeshore Drive. The former will be the company’s central distribution center, and the latter will house the central distribution office.

“We are grateful for the company’s investments that create jobs in our community, as well as the Lee family’s significant contributions over all these years to support education, workforce development and other city initiatives,” Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said.
