Brasfield & Gorrie Tops Out Tall Tower in Atlanta

Office building under constrction

The tallest tower to be built in Atlanta in the last decade is well underway, with construction slated to be complete this fall. Birmingham-based Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor on Selig Development’s $530 million mixed-use project in Midtown Atlanta.

The 31-story office building encompasses 675,000 square feet and was designed by Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio architecture firm. The building features contemporary styling, sporting a glass façade and a 410-foot geometric steel exoskeleton that sets the building apart from other high-rises in Midtown.

The office building, which topped out last week, is accompanied by a 64-unit condominium building that topped out in October 2020 and the Epicurean Atlanta hotel, which topped out in August 2020.

“With three towers rising simultaneously, 1105 West Peachtree is a logistically complicated job,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Division Manager Drew Kelley. “By self-performing the concrete structure, we gained superior control over schedule, cost, quality and safety. This was especially helpful for maintaining the construction schedule during a particularly challenging time. We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with Selig Enterprises, which has played a vital role in developing Midtown Atlanta.”

Offering 27,500-square-foot floor plates, the office tower has several multi-floor, long-term leases signed with law firm Smith, Gambrell & Russell and tech giant Google. 1105 West Peachtree office tenants will have access to the nearly one-acre shared amenity deck on the ninth floor, coined the Sky Plaza. The rooftop amenity also connects to the Epicurean Atlanta hotel and the condominium tower 40 West 12th.

“This project represents the largest in our company’s history,” said Steve Selig, president and owner of Selig Enterprises.

Steve Baile, chief operating and development officer at Selig, added, “We are creating an experience that serves a new generation of office workers coming out of the pandemic. 1105 West Peachtree is built for companies who value visibility, flexibility, hospitality and most importantly, a forward-thinking community that provides people with so much more than just space to work.”

The office building features an elevated bar program and food offerings, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, bike service and repair room. The street level of the building will provide 20,000 square feet of retail. The building will also have valet and rideshare drop-off and pick-up locations and is a brief walk from Midtown MARTA stations for transit riders.

Brasfield & Gorrie has 12 offices and approximately 3,000 employees. It provides general contracting, design-build and construction management services for a wide range of markets. It had 2020 revenues of $3.9 billion.
